Goldfish, a yummy snack for your ears (yes, you read that correctly)

There are some songs that are meant to be on commercials or in movies/movie trailers. We've all heard a song for the first time and said, "This song should be a in a commercial", or at least I have anyway. But I've never heard multiple songs by an artist and said, track after track, "This song needs to be in a commercial/trailer/movie, and this song, and this song, and this song." I've never said that until today. A while ago I was listening to Pandora. I had my relaxing station playing (it's actually my "Porcelain" by Moby station, make fun of me all you want, but it's a cool song) and an upbeat song without words, but had a lot of kick. I looked at the artist, Goldfish, and didn't think much of it. The song was called Mbira Beat, and today I thought I would check out more songs by Goldfish for fun. I HIT THE JACKPOT! Goldfish uses some old school sounds, mixes them electronically, shakes it up with their own smooth and new age/hip style and turns out track after track of amazingness. When you hear their sound you'll agree, these songs need to be on commercials/trailers/movies, and not in a cheesy way, but in a new and funky way (I can't really explain it). Anyway, give them a listen!!!! Goldfish in general gets a CRUISE IT, and of course REPEAT IT

Youtube has a mix for them, check it outttttt: http://www.youtube.com/artist?a=GxdCwVVULXfpyAhQqMDH0g1R2NQxkovn&feature=bottomfeedr

Did I mention they have funny and weird videos? No, I didn't? Well check out this one!

Annndd this song is in the 2010 Kia Soul Commercial

Like OMG! There's another song called OMG

"If I Was You (OMG)" by Far East Movement Feat. Snoop Dogg (Disco Fries Remix). Alright, I'll give the original some credit, but this remix makes this even better.  I found the remix when I was scanning through the songs on http://www.fratbeatz.com/ The lyrics are a little raunchy, but you shouldn't really expect anything less of Far East Movement or Snoop, and together raunchy comes automatic. The song is great to dance to and sing to, so get on your feet. CRANK IT

Too Fake By Big Sean feat. Chiddy Bang

Too Fake by Big Sean feat. Chiddy Bang has a laid back beat for those hot, slow summer days (a.k.a today, there's a heat advisory in Bethlehem, PA right now). I heard this song a while ago in a friend's car, but found it yesterday when I was romping around on Fratbeatz.com (not as put together as Fratmusic.com, but a great place to look for remixes and new songs now and again) Chiddy Bang kills it. I'll always love Chiddy after seeing them open for Kid Cudi. Pretty awesome show (RJD2 performed too). Enjoy your summer, and stay cool. REPEAT IT

UK Charts 6/7

This week's new songs on the UK Charts are awesome for summer. Download them and take your i-pod outside and enjoy the sun!

To see the complete list of songs this week on the UK Charts: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/chart/singles

#6 "What A Feeling" By Alex Guadino Feat. Kelly Rowland. What an awesome song for summer?! Alex Guadino struck gold with "I'm In Love" (I Wanna Do It) a few months ago, and teaming with Kelly Rowland has blasted this song onto the charts. It's upbeat, and fun and I'm definitely feeling it. Did I mention girlfriend looks fierce in the video? REPEAT IT, CRANK IT, FEEEEL IT!

#30 "Don't Stop The Party" By The Black Eyed Peas. It seems the Black Eyed Peas have no intention on stopping the party. They keep cranking out hit after hit. The video is pretty cool, giving an inside glimpse into their lives as performers. CRANK IT

#40 "Love Love" By Take That, has a pretty intense sound, which is probably why it's linked with X-Men First Class (which I still need to see). It's a bit ballad-y, making the chorus fun to sing along to. LOVE (LOVE) IT

BOUNCE (to the beat of summer!)...schools out!

"Bounce" by Calvin Harris feat. Kelis is gonna be big!! I was perusing the UK Pop Charts Dance Genre page and found this song. Kelis is so much more than her Milkshake! But seriously, this is an upbeat jam that's great to dance to. REPEAT IT, CRANK IT, BOUNCE IT

UK Charts 5/8

School is winding down and it's time to get back to the music. To see all the songs on the UK Pop Charts this week http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/chart/singles

#3 "Where the Girls at?" by David Guetta, Flo Rida and Nicki Minaj. Did you just read that line up? How could this song be anything, but awesome. Packing some major starpower this song is for the dancefloor. What a great song to segway us into summer. Sadly the video isn't out yet, here's a youtube with lyrics. REPEAT IT, CRANK IT

#16 "I Can" by Blue. I wish they couldn't. I'm not into this song at all. I think the inspirational message is awesome, but the song leaves a lot to be desired. And the video??? Weird and boring. Check it out for yourself, hopefully you like it more than I do. SKIP IT, CAN'T (listen to) IT

#31 "Mr. Saxobeat" by Alexandra Stan packs a EURO-sound punch. Listen to it and you'll here the playful European vibe. Cross your fingers it makes its way to the good ol' U.S. of A. REPEAT IT, CRANK IT, EUROPE-TO-AMERICA IT

#33 "Bass Down Low" by Dev Feat. The Cataracs. If you've listened to a radio at all in the last couple months you've heard this song. If you been to a college party in the last nine/ten months, you've definitely heard this song. Good for the Cataracs for making the transition to Europe again. (They were also in Far East Movement's "Like a G6") CRANK IT

#40 "I'm Into You" by Jennifer Lopez Feat. Lil Wayne is an ok song, but the music video is smokin. JLo may have had twins, but she looks fabulous in this video. The whole video is just JLo looking fierce in different outfits and different scenes, and it's awesome. WATCH IT (listening not required)

Enjoy the sunshine kiddos!

I noticed that I've been posting a lot of party and pump-up songs. Don't get me wrong I love them (clearly), but I feel the need to switch things up. Spring has sprung and the time has come to put the top down, or open up the sun roof, or at least roll down the windows. Anyway, it's definitely time to enjoy the sun, well whenever you get a break from the rain (East Coast, what's up). I was perusing the usual sites, Dirty Mexican Lemonade and RCRD LBL, when I found these songs.

"That's Just Me" by XV is a song about doing you. For those who know me: ME,ME,ME,ME,ME,ME (only child syndrome). Ok, so now that's out of my system, back to XV. I was checking out DML, and sampled this song, I was instantly pleased. "That's Just Me" delivers a head-nodding, smooth beat, with a catchy chorus. I literally haven't stopped listening soooo... REPEAT IT, CRUISE IT

For those of you who don't know XV, check out his page http://www.myspace.com/xtothev
Check out the DML post http://dirtymexicanlemonade.com/2011/04/17/xv-zero-heroes/

"How Can U Luv Me" by Unknown Mortal Orchestra is for the quirky crowd.  Found this little number on RCRD LBL. It's upbeat and fun, with a retro theme. Also you have to appreciate the spelling of  U and Luv, my mom just mastered texting and I get texts with those versions.  REPEAT IT,  CRUISE IT

UK Charts 4/17

#14 "Judas" by Lady Gaga has got me confused. I love Lady Gaga so I feel like I should love it, but it doesn't deliver right away like "Born This Way" did for me. I'm guessing it debuted so highly because it's by Lady Gaga, and not because of the song itself. I do like the title, but only because my friends and I always say the "F-ing Judas" part from "Superbad" whenever someone gets the short end of the deal. Will I put this song on my work-out or party playlist, no. I will however probably sing to it when DJ's play it. PONDER IT, BOOZE IT

#28 "Don't Sit Down 'Cause I've Moved Your Chair" by Arctic Monkeys has one trippy music video. The video has a little bit of that 90's grunge feel. I like the dark rock and role feel, and it's a nice break from the typical pop songs that debut each week. CRUISE IT

#32 "Blow" by Ke$ha has moved across the pond to the tea loving radios. Alright! I have to admit that I didn't like this song at first, but then I found myself singing the chorus under my breath. As usual, Ke$ha puts out something catchy. Her songs were featured on America's Best Dance Crew last week, and I gotta give it up for Iconic Boys (they performed "Your Love Is My Drug"), they may be young, but they are sooo talented. CRANK IT, (GET IT STUCK IN YOUR HEAD)

#36 "Yeah Right" by Dionne Bromfield (Feat. Diggy Simmons) Dionne Bromfield has that old school sound of Adele or Amy Winehouse, but she's 15! She is actually part of Amy Winehouse's label Lioness, which seems like a perfect fit (soundwise). Then, there's Diggy Simmons. Anyone ever watch "Run's House", well cute little Diggy has entered his teens, and is delivering with the beats. He released "Great Expectations" in 2010, and I think the world should have great expectations for him. This young duo delivers a great jam, and the video is entertaining. I'm excited to see what's in store for both of these artists. REPEAT IT, CRUISE IT

Taio Cruz Keeps Me Dancing

"Believe In Me Now" by Taio Cruz (Prod. by Swedish House Mafia) Could there be a better combo? I was checking out Dirty Mexican Lemonade this morning and found this one. Without even listening to the track you know it's going to kill. Taio Cruz always has bridges and chorus' to sing along to. This song just makes you want to dance (even if you can't dance, I like to think I can, but maybe I'm giving myself a little too much credit?) If you like this one, give "Little Bad Girl" by Taio Cruz (Prod. by David Guetta) a listen. Ratings for both: REPEAT IT, CRANK IT

UK Charts 4/10

The new songs on the UK charts this week were definitely worth blogging about!

#20 "Beautiful People" by Chris Brown (feat. Benny Benassi) has crossed the pond to our tea loving friend's radio. I've blogged about it before, and I'm still listening to it. REPEAT IT, CRANK IT

#32 "Girls Fall Like Dominoes" by Nicki Minaj, samples from indie band Big Pink. As expected Minaj delivers. Her flow is solid, and her rhymes witty. There was some debate amongst YouTube commenters about her sampling, but I'm a fan. REPEAT IT

#37 "Bring It"by Jodie Connor (feat. Tinchy Stryder) is a jam for the girls. It's flashy, catchy and fun to sing along to. Definitely "bring it" out at parties, or when you're hanging with the girls. CRANK IT

#40 "Best Love Song" by T-Pain (feat. Chris Brown). We all know that T-Pain only has a career because of auto tune, but not everyone's voice sounds that great auto tuned, so I guess he has talent? I don't think this is the best love song I've ever heard, but it's a got a pop sound, that's good for the radio. LIKE IT (but not obsessed)

Ke$ha gets explicit (no surprise there)

"F**k Him He's A DJ" by Ke$ha. Girlfriend better grab a bar of soap and wash her mouth out. This is definitely a dance track for the girls to scream to. I didn't really like the beginning when I first heard this, but after the chorus I have to admit it, I was into it. I know there are a lot of Ke$ha haters out there, but give the girl some credit, she was one of the writers on Britney Spears's new hit "Til the World Ends", and there's not denying how that song has taken off. If you're fighting becoming a Ke$ha fan, you should just say, "F**k it", and just give in. She's clearly not a one-hit-wonder, this song debuted #97 on the Billboard Charts this week, and will probably only climb the rankings. CRANK IT, BOOZE IT, SCREAM IT?

Beautiful People

Beautiful People by Chris Brown (feat. Benny Benassi) As a cheesy boy once said to my housemate when she commented on the beauty of the weather, "Beautiful day, beautiful girl." Oh yeah, he said that, and it could have been even cheesier if someone (probably me) had played this song right after. Anyway, Chris Brown gave listeners a sample of this last night when he performed on Dancing With the Stars. The performance is pretty epic, but no one should expect anything less. Maybe Chris Brown will absorb some of the beauty he sings about and shape up. Brown also performed "Yeah 3x" and "Forever"REPEAT IT, CRANK IT

OH. MAH. GAH

Next 2 You By Chris Brown and Justin Beiber. I know we have to hold Chris Brown accountable for his actions.....but this is a song I can't let go of (eeeekkkk). I'm trying to contain my middle school self right now. Thanks Ali G. (Not the Sacha Baron Cohen character, but my friend Ali Gallagher). This song does NOT excuse Chris Brown's actions, both past and present, but Beiber is on the track, and the song is awesome. Give it a listen, and let your middle school self enjoy!

UK CHarts 3/20

#1 "Don't Hold Your Breath" by Nicole Scherzinger. So the lead Pussycat Doll steps out solo with a break-up song. This one is definitely for the girls, so guys, don't hold your breath. It's not an instant favorite for me, but hey it's number one this week. NO BOYS ALLOWED (IT?)

#3 "Gold Forever" by The Wanted. If you missed boy bands, this might be for you. Also, if you like clown noses, this music video is for you. I don't get the whole clown nose theme of the video, are they going for silliness? If I found myself at a rager with a clown nose, I guess I'd go with it. The song is sweet, but could be great if you REMIXED IT

#10 "Louder" by Parade. And now for the girl groups, the song says turn it up louder, but I think I want to turn it down. This song is pretty lackluster. SKIP IT

#16 "Sweat" by Snoop Dogg. I heard a rumor Cudi and Snoop will be in NYC on 4/20, if it's true, and let's all hope it is, that show is going to be phenomenal. You don't even have to hear this song to know that with a title like Sweat, the video is going to be a little raunchy. I like the song, but maybe it's because I like snoop, but I think there's something missing for sure. Don't get me wrong, the song has some cool components, like the helium voice saying "work it, work it out girl", but it needs something more. TWEAK IT

#24 "Buzzin (Remix)" By Mann (feat. 50 cent). I'm a big fan of 50 cent, and always will be. I like that "I Can't Wait" by Nu Shooz is the background. CRANK IT, BUZZ IT

#27 "True Faith" by George Micheal. I'm confused, George Micheal is known for his hit "Faith", why would he write a song called "True Faith". The autotune in this song freaks me out. I'm not a fan. FREAKED OUT BY IT

#32 "All of The Lights" By Kanye West (feat. Drake and Rihanna). I've been a big fan of this song for a while, but today was the first time I've checked out the video. Rihanna, what are you wearing?? But the little girl in the video, is precious. The weird part, is that the video has Kid Cudi, but there are like a million audio versions with other artists on Youtube. Also, the beginning of the song has a warning for epileptics and others prone to seizures...safety first? Well, whoever is on the track, it's a winner. LIGHT IT UP, REPEAT IT

#35 "Teenage Dirtbag" by Wheatus. What a throwback.  Not sure why this song is on the charts, but I won't hate. The video is the best part. Check it out. REWIND IT

I'm BACKKKK and So Are "These Nights"

Sorry for my absence. Wish I had an excuse, but I just wasn't feeling it. However, after a convo with my " "little little" (yup, that's a real term. For my Greekers, you know what's up!), I learned there were some people looking for some new music. So, Samz Jamz is back. Got this jam from one of my usual sources, no not UK Charts, but good guess. I got it from DML. I preach this almost everytime I post about DML, but everyone has seriously got to check these guys out. They have the ILLEST college jams, and they have links to download. You want mashups? They got 'em. You want college beatz??? Oh, for sure they got 'em. Anyway, the jam I got from them, which I haven't stopped playing, is "These Nights" by Myrtle Ave. This is an awesome song to listen to during the day, but it transitions to night time well. REPEAT IT, CRANK IT, I LOVE IT. It's good to be back. Check in with you on Sunday to go over the new jams on the charts.

You can download off of Dirty Mexican Lemonade here (it's the fifth one down): http://dirtymexicanlemonade.com/2010/11/18/birthday-bangers/
