UK CHarts 11/28- 12/4

#1 “Heroes” by the X Factor Finalists I think I’m getting soft because this song made me tear up. No joke, it pulled at my heart strings. Because X Factor isn’t very influential in America, I don’t see this blowing up on our side of the pond, but it was beautiful nonetheless. REPEAT IT

#4 “Thinking Of Me” by Olly Murs One thing is for sure, this is no “Please Don’t Let Me Go”, but in the typical Olly Murs style, it has a very cute and sweet sound. CRUISE IT

#25 “Do It Like A Dude” by Jessie J I. Love. This. Song. Singing one for the girls, always has my vote. It has a heavy beat, and she has a cool sound. She has a bit of Nicki Minaj sound, but there’s no convincing the two. YOU GO GIRL, DO IT (LIKE A DUDE GIRL), REPEAT IT, CRANK IT

#29 “Gillian McKeith” by Brett Domino Don’t take this song seriously, it’s great for a laugh and pokes fun at Gillian McKeith the nutritionist. If you’re looking for a laugh this is the jam for you. BUST A GUT TO IT

#33 “More” Usher This man consistently delivers. I definitely more, that’s for sure. This is pretty inspirational song; put it on your gym playlist PUMP IRON TO IT, REPEAT IT

#37 “Doncamatic” by Gorillaz Featuring Daley is definitely a new sound for the Gorillaz. I’m a fan though. The beginning sounds like it should be in Mario Kart or Mario Party. CRUISE IT

#38 “Let It Be” by The Beatles If you don’t like this song, there is something seriously wrong with you (offense intended). I like this Beatles push by iTunes because it’s bringing back some great songs (although they were never really gone). CRY IT, REPEAT IT

#40 “Better Than Today” by Kylie Minogue has an 80’s vibe, and Kylie Minogue delivers. It sounds like the music my mom used to do aerobics to, but in a good way. Like the lyrics of the song say, “FEEL IT, SEE IT, KNOW HOW MUCH YOU NEED IT

Billboard Charts 11/20

#8  “Teenage Dream” by The Glee Cast Glee hardly ever lets me down. I’m still loving this song, and I don’t see myself putting it on the back burner at point in the near future. REPEAT IT

#12 “The Time (Dirty Bit)” by The Black Eyed Peas Hmmm I have a sense of déjà vu, maybe because I just blogged about this song when it debuted on the UK charts. Black Eyed Peas are killin it with the dub-step. REPEAT IT

#57 “The Show Goes On” by Lupe Fiasco. I do not hate saying I told you so; I love it; I live for it. REPEAT IT (if you aren’t already repeating it)

#67 “Down On Me” Jeremih Featuring 50 Cent This jam definitely has a smooth sound. The lyrics are a little raunchy, but I wouldn’t expect anything less. CRUISE IT

#70 “Hello World” by Lady Antebellum Country

#76 “What If” by Jason Derulo This music video is a little more serious than I had anticipated, but the song is pretty sentimental. Sniffle, sniffle GRAB A TISSUE FOR IT

#94 “Make A Movie” by Twista Featuring Chris Brown This song is absolutely what you think it’s about. Not sure how I feel about the sound of it. PONDER IT

UK CHarts 11/21- 11/27

#1 “Love You More” by JLS When I listen to this song I think of little girls screaming this song and crying with posters. It’s a very endearing song, maybe a little too sweet for my taste, but sweet. TONE IT DOWN

#6 “Like A G6” by Far East Movement Featuring Cataracs and Dev I’m absolutely thrilled to see this song experiencing the success it has experienced. For me, it started as a new college song last February or March, and since then it has blown up. Added bonus, got to see the Cataracs live last week, it was awesome. My goal is to fly on a G6 while listening to this jam. REPEAT IT, CRANK IT, NEVER GET SICK OF IT,

#10 “Safe” by Westlife What is it with the mushy love songs? I feel like I should whip out my lighter and start swaying. PONDER IT

#18 “What’s My Name” By Rihanna Featuring Drake O Na Na, your name is Rihanna, and I like this song(a). I tried, but clearly being a lyricist is not in my future and there’s a reason why we let Rihanna make the music, and why I listen. This song is sick, and it jumped over to the UK really quickly. A strong pairing like Rihanna and Drake is bound to deliver. REPEAT IT, CRUISE IT

#22 “Game Over” by Tinchy Stryder Featuring Chipmunk The only youtube videos I could find of this song included a long list of big names including Giggs, Professor Green, Tinie Tempah Devlin, and Example. I think the song’s heavy beat is sick, but that’s about all it brings to the table. I feel like seeing this song live would be more exciting. PONDER IT, SEE IT LIVE?

#38 “Just Drive” by Alistair Griffin This song has a very ballady song. Somehow it has some country elements, but it deter me from liking it. I feel like this should be in trailer for a Nikolas Sparks book-turned-movie. For the sake of the title, CRUISE IT, but actually CRY IT

#40 “Hey Jude” by The Beatles This song was a little unexpected to see on the charts, but with the new box set release on iTunes, and the general Beatles campaign on iTunes it kind of made sense. I mean the song, is famous for a reason, it’s an awesome song. RETRO IT

Everyone's Starry Eyed, Sayin Yeah

I thought "Starry Eyed" by Ellie Goulding was alright, not my favorite song by her, but good enough. Then the jakwob remix came out, and the song got the dub-step experience and it became a whole other animal. It was a heavy hitting monster; an out-of-body experience. Right now I'm sitting in Philly's airport, perusing my favorite music sites and I saw the unthinkable, the holy grail, the dub step version of "Starry Eyed" mashed up with "Say Yeah" by Wiz Khalifa (which was borrows the background from "Better Off Alone" by Alice Deejay. Dirty Mexican Lemonade posted LJC spin on these two songs, and the heavens open up and smiled upon us. You can listen and download this masterpiece at the following link: http://dirtymexicanlemonade.com/2010/11/23/everyones-starry-eyed-sayin-yeah/
Guess I found what I'm thankful for this Thanksgiving. Thank you DML, thank you LJC
REPEAT IT, CRANK IT, BE THANKFUL FOR IT (seriously)

Billboard Charts 11/13

#23 “Felt Good On My Lips” by Tim Mcgraw Country

#51 “Sleazy” by Ke$ha is  a little disappointing, especially after the success of her other singles. Also, it’s a little raunchier than I would like, but Ke$ha will be who she is, she’s made that clear. PONDER IT

#56 “Roman’s Revenge” by Nicki Minaj Featuring Eminem. Oh Nicki, you’re so rhymes are so witty. I recently heard rumor that Wayne writes all her material, but I’m choosing not to believe that, I love her too much to believe it. REPEAT IT

#61 “Bon, Bon” by Pitbull I may not be able to understand a word of this song, but I do appreciate the incorporation of “We No Speak Americano” TRANSLATE IT PLEASE

#67 “Somewhere With You” by Kenny Chesney Country

#70 “Get Back Up” by T.I. Featuring Cbris Brown judging by the title alone this song couldn’t be more fitting for these two artists. I like how smooth the song sounds. CRUISE IT

#74 Lo Mejor De Mi Vida Eres Tu By Ricky Martin Featuring Natalie Jimenez roughly means the best of my life it is you who are (thank you free translator’s website). I don’t know what they’re singing, but the song has a really sweet happy sound. ME GUSTA IT

#86 “Sick” by New Hollow. You wouldn’t know by their sound, but New Hollow is a band of high school boys. I’m not wild about the song, but I’m definitely impressed by their talent. The music video seems pretty low budget, but the premise is really sweet. IMPRESSED BY IT

#89 “Voices” by Chris Young Country

#93 “Don’t You Wanna Stay” by Jason Aldean With Kelly Clarkson Country

#97 “Bullet In The Gun” by Toby Keith Country

#98 “The Big Bang” by RockMafia has a very Maroon 5 sound. The song is seductive, and the video is mysterious. I like the rock sound of it, and how the song incorporates whistling. Did I mention Miley Cyrus is in the video?  REPEAT IT, WHISTLE IT

UK Charts 11/14- 11/20

#2 "The Flood" by Take That has a very dramatic feeling. I think what’s really most exciting about the song is that it’s concrete proof that Take That is really back, and thank goodness for that. The chorus is very ballady, CRY IT

#4 "Shine a Light" by McFly Featuring Taio Cruz. I’m not going to lie, at first I thought a girl was singing. I’m a little disappointed, I was expecting the addition of Taio Cruz to really pack the punch in this song, and I the song has a bit of a boring song. PONDER IT

#11 "The Time (Dirty Bit)" by The Black Eyed Peas uses “Time Of My Life” by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes from Dirty Dancing. Obviously, the Black Eyed Peas add their party lyrics, remixed electronic sounds, and heavy beats. This may not replace “I Gotta Feeling”, but it definitely has the potential to be the new party song. CRANK IT, HAVE THE TIME OF YOUR LIFE TO IT

#12 Gotta Be Somebody" by Shayne Ward puts an interesting song on the Nickleback hit. I think if you don’t like Nicleback, you may still like this song. It’s a lot less pop, and much more pop. It’s still just as dramatic. CRY IT

#13 "Raise Your Glass" by P!nk. Ugh, I’m trying not to let my bias get in the way, but I don’t like P!nk as an artist, so I don’t like her sound, and don’t like her songs. Sorry. SKIP IT

#39 "Your Song" by Ellie Goulding This is by far my favorite song this week. I don’t know why there are so many new covers of old songs, but thank goodness there are. Ellie Goulding puts her touch to Elton John’s legendary “Your Song”, and the soft sounds are absolutely beautiful. REPEAT IT, CRY IT

"You Are Not A Robot" Hoodie Allen

"You Are Not A Robot" by Hoodie Allen Featuring Marina & The Diamonds. This song takes Marina and the Diamonds original song "I am not A Robot", remixes it, adds a sick beat and Hoodie's rhymes. REPEAT IT, CRANK IT, CRUISE IT

Jefferson is flyyyy

I was searching http://dirtymexicanlemonade.com/ and I found a post about Jefferson. Every song posted has a great beat, witty rhymes, overall an awesome sound. I only see Jefferson getting bigger. Let's hope he comes to Lehigh so I can see him live. "Thrill Of It"  may sound familiar because it's "Walking On A Dream" by Empire Sun. My personal favorite is "She's Got Her Ways", it's got a calm and smooth sound, but still has some rhymes; it gives listeners the best of both worlds (Hannah Montana joke). Check him out.

Happiness Remix!!!

It took me a few minutes to search for the prefect remix of "Happiness" by Alexis Jordan. I stumbled upon some doozies, but finally found the golden ticket. Sadly it ends a little too short, but the substance is there, and it remixes the chorus perfectly. Thank you Wideboys Radio Edit, I feel happier already!

Uk Charts 11/7- 11/13

#3 ”Happiness” by Alexis Jordan I like how calm this song is, but I think this song would be a world phenomenon remixed. REPEAT IT, REMIX IT

#11 “Check It Out” by will.i.am Nicki Minaj this is one of my favorite songs. I have gotten past their bizarre VMA performance and listen to the song all the time. REPEAT IT, CRANK IT, CRUISE IT

#20 “One In A Million” by Ne-Yo Love the song. Love Ne-Yo. Love the video. LOVE IT

Billboard Charts 11/6

This week was all about Taylor Swift, it was really hard to get through, not because her music is bad, but because it was a lot of the same sound. Her album is number one for a reason.

#1 “We R Who We R” by Ke$ha. YAY! Ke$ha. First week on the charts and your song is number one. Very impressive, but with a song like “We R Who We R”, it’s really no surprise everyone likes it. REPEAT IT, CRANK IT.

#17 “Sparks Fly” by Taylor Swift I can’t believe of ALL the songs Taylor Swift has on the charts this is the highest ranking one. The song is a bit boring. PONDER IT

#27 “Innocent” by Taylor Swift is dedicated to Kanye West. We know they aren’t friends post the whole VMA debacle, but writing a song about him? Come on. PONDER IT

#33 “Yeah 3x” by Chris Brown. I feel guilty saying this, but I really like this song. It’s been on my party play list for a couple weeks now, and I’m still not sick of it. Not to mention, the dancing in this video is phenomenal If only Chris Brown hadn’t gone crazy on Rihanna, then I could play this song all day long without a care in the world. REPEAT IT (on a low, inconspicuous, volume)

#41 “The Story Of Us” by Taylor Swift reminds me of Kids Bop or maybe a Disney Channel song. I do like that it doesn’t follow the same structure of her other hits. I like it, and it’s growing on me. PONDER IT, KIDS BOP IT

#54 “Dear John” by Taylor Swift are you really going to publicize every brief relation you have musically? This song drags on wayyyyyy toooooo slowwwlllyyyy. If I’m depressed over boy at some point, I might think about playing this song, but I think she could do slow songs better. CRY IT

#56 “Better Than Revenge” by Taylor Swift. Wow girlfriend with blonde curls is angry. You do not want to cross this once innocent sweet heart. I like it because it’s so different, and the lyrics are unexpected. REPEAT IT, GET REVENGE WHILE PLAYING IT

#63 “Haunted” by Taylor Swift. With each Taylor Swift song (and clearly this week there are so many), I’m constantly surprised. This sounds a little Paramore-ish. Her sound has definitely matured. SURPRISED BY IT

#71 “Last Kiss” by Taylor Swift Clearly she’s really trying to branch out, but I’m not sure if she should really explore sad songs. I want to like it, but I’m having some trouble. PONDER IT

#72 “I Won’t Let Go” by Rascal Flatts Country

#75 “Enchanted” by Taylor Swift I really hope she does a music video for this one. I have a good feeling about it. VIDEO IT

#77 “Mr. Rager” by Kid Cudi is nothing less than I would expect of Kid Cudi. The song has a very dream-like sound. CRUISE IT

#84 “Never Grow Up” by Taylor Swift makes me wonder who she wrote this for? Her future children? Well whoever it’s very endearing. I’m scared to play this for my mom, for fear she will burst into tears. CRY IT

#85 “Long Live” by Taylor Swift this is the last Taylor Swift song I had to listen to, and I’m a little burnt out. However, I do think this is my favorite of the slow songs. CRY IT

#89 “Time Warp” by The Glee Cast I only know one song from Rocky Horror Picture show, but if there was one song to know, it would obviously be this song. What a great Halloween episode. WARP IT

#97 “One In A Million” by Ne-Yo is definitely my favorite video of the week. Ne-Yo tends to do theatrical videos, and this song and dance is entertaining, and lucky for your ears, it’s a good song. Ne-Yo is one in a million. CRUISE IT, REPEAT IT

#100 “Someone Else Calling You” by Luke Bryan Country

"The Show Goes On" by Lupe Fiasco

You may recognize Modest Mouse's "Float On" in background of the song. Lupe Fiasco, like many artists before him, took what was already a great song, and put his own personal touch on it, and boy am I happy he did. "The Show Goes On" has a great foundation from it's Modest Mouse roots, and the typical smooth sound we have all come to love and expect from Mr. Fiasco (who's sound is very put together considering his last name). REPEAT IT, CRUISE IT.

Obviously The Best Scene

"Teenage Dream" by Katy Perry is redone by Darren Criss, and I have to say it gives the new Mrs. Brand a run for her money. REPEAT IT (over and over and over and over)

Live Blogging Glee 11/9/10

eeing as Glee songs have been dominating the Billboard Music Charts every week, it only seemed right that I live blog this week's episode.

9:00 What an awesome episode. There were make outs, and good lessons galore, not to mention the songs were well chosen!
8:58 “Stop In The Name of Love” and “Free Your Mind” mash up. I don’t know who I liked better, boys or girls? It’s a toss-up.
8:56 Kurt, be strong!
8:55 New alliance of Artie and Puck? I’m a fan.
8:51 Wait what!? Will just kissed beast… it was kind of sweet, wait, that was really sweet.
8:50 Glee is getting really emotional. Beast is the best (New chant 2)
8:48 This new guy better stick around. Kurt needs a friend.
8:47 I CARE PUCK!
8:45 “Bring back beast!” New chant?
8:40 WHAT!? The bully is gay? Well, it makes sense. Way to go Kurt for standing up for himself. Don’t tolerate bullying!
8:38 Sue’s evil laugh, definitely natural, but I’m really upset Beast quit. Shue bring her back!
8:36 “Livin on a Prayer” and “Start Me Up” in leather pants. Nice one girls, this is definitely better than their last all girl performance of “Halo” and “Walking on Sunshine”
8:35 Did Santana really just say Puck should be the next president? Dine and dash, Puck don’t do it. Artie is such a good guy
8:28 The beast is such a nice lady, intimidating, but very nice. I’m happy she’s on the show. I feel bad that she’s always having a hard time.
8:27 ”Prejudice is just ignorance”. Something to take away from this episode
8:24 I like the message Glee is sending. Embrace everyone regardless of sexual orientation.
8:19 Beast is taking over.
8:17 I LOVE THE WARBLERS. “This is the best song this season of Glee”, from my roommate.
8:16 “Teenage Dream” Kurt’s new love is melting my heart! This is definitely Kurt’s Dream. The Warblers are awesome, watch out New Directions.
8:15 Is Kurt transferring? NO!
8:13 Artie ‘s sweater reminds me of Bill Cosby, but his voice definitely doesn’t
8:12 Puck is whipping out the guitar. Only awesomeness can ensue. “One Love”, didn’t expect that from Puck.
8:11 “She-Hulk” and staring at wounds. Missed you Sue
8:07 First commercial and no songs have beensung yet? Come on Glee!
8:05 HAHHAH “Baby-out-with-the-bathwater” joke. I love Britney
8:04 No kosher meals in Juvie?
8:03 Awww poor Kurt, kid can’t catch a break. If he wants to sing with girls he should
8:03 Boys vs. Girls! This is going to be good
8:02 PUCK IS BACK, and looking better than ever I might add
8:01 What a quirky conversation in the bathtub, and the wedgie talk…WHAT?!

Uk Charts 10/31- 9/6

#1 “Promise This” by Cheryl Cole.  It’s official, I now have a girl crush on Cheryl Cole. Not only is the song awesome, but the music video is fun to watch. REPEAT IT, CRANK IT

#2 “Only Girl” by Rihanna. I loved this song the first time I heard and I still love it. REPEAT IT

#13 “Seek Bromance” by Tim Berg I foresee this song being the next “All I Ever wanted” by the Basshunters. CLUB IT

#14 “Defender” by Peter Andre. I try, but I can’t get into it. I do however like the dancing in the video.  PONDER IT

#15 “Runaway” by Devlin is one of those emotional songs. It’s so beautifully sad. CRY IT

#35 “No Love” by Eminem Featuring Lil Wayne is epic. I do have one question, how is Lil Wayne doing these music videos from jail?? He must have been pretty busy shooting videos and recording before he went to the slammer. REPEAT IT

#37 “Stay The Night” by James Blunt. I’m trying to put my biase against James Blunt. It’s a cute song, but I think it should have been released in the summer. PONDER IT

#40 “Falling In Love” by Ironik Featuring Jessica Lowndes is a little lack luster. I keep playing the song hoping I’ll like it, but no such luck. PONDER IT, SKIP IT

Uk Charts 10/24- 10/30

#2 “Heart Vacancy” by The Wanted makes me dismiss any skepticism or doubt I had about boy bands. I love the song, and the heavy beat that starts during the chorus and proceeds. The music video definitely fills the love-song-video-vacancy in my heart. CRY IT, MUSHY LOVE SONG IT

#9 “2012” Jay Sean Featuring Nicki Minaj is a little overrated. I like it, but by no means am I fan. Let’s  hope it’s not on the charts next week. DEMOTE IT

#10  “Best Behaviour: N-Dubz. Oh the hard life of a pop star. Being famous is sooooo hard for your love life. I REALLY feel bad for you. All joking aside, it’s a good song. WAAA TO IT

#11“Just A Dream” by Nelly introduces listeners to a whole new side of Nelly, and I have to say I like his sentimental side. Nelly, when you were gone it was a nightmare. Your return is a dream come true. REPEAT IT

#13 ”My Wicked Heart” by Diana Vickers involves a lot of whooping, but the song delivers. WHOOP THERE IT IS! REPEAT IT

#30 “Mine” by Taylor Swift is the same song as every other Taylor Swift with a slightly adjusted guitar chord. BLAH, BLAH, BLAH. I may hate on it, but I discovered myself humming it. HUM IT
